Fred Post

Fred joined Bridgewater in 2003 and is currently a Partner at the firm. In Total Portfolio Strategies, Fred serves as a Senior Portfolio Strategist across our Resiliency Alpha, Resiliency Equities, and Balanced Assets strategies, where he shares our best thinking on global markets and economies and partners with our clients on their investment challenges, offering expertise in portfolio construction, foreign exchange, interest rate, credit, commodity, and equity markets. In that seat, Fred also plays an important role helping to shape and evolve our tailored alpha portfolios, partnering with our clients to share insight and develop tailored investment strategies that improve portfolio resiliency. He has been deeply involved with the research and design of these strategies for several years. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with our co-CIOs, advancing research initiatives, creating investment strategies, and regularly contributing to the Bridgewater Daily Observations. Additionally, Fred has led research teams with a specific focus on developed and emerging global bond and currency markets. Fred received his B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College.
Chip Packard

Chip Packard joined Bridgewater in 2016 and serves as Global Head of Strategic Partnerships for Bridgewater’s Client Service department. In his role, he is responsible for developing and managing the client and commercial strategy across Asia Pacific and the Middle East, as well as building the strategic advisory relationships and delivering tailored portfolio strategies to clients across those regions. Chip is also a Partner of the firm.

Joel joined Bridgewater in 2002. He oversees and is responsible for global new business development in Bridgewater’s Advisory business. He is also a Partner at the firm and serves as a member of the Commercial and Business Strategy Committee.
Jim Haskel

Jim joined Bridgewater in 2003 and is a Partner and Head of Client Service at the firm. He also continues to serve as the Editor of the Bridgewater Daily Observations, is a member of Bridgewater’s Operating Committee, and chairs the firm’s Commercial Committee. From 2003 to 2020, Jim served as a Senior Portfolio Strategist. He was also a member of Bridgewater’s Operating Board of Directors from 2018-2025 and was one of three people named as Bridgewater’s Seed Partners, tasked with building out all aspects of Bridgewater’s partnership to help transition the firm from an iconic founder to its next phase as an institutional money management firm.Prior to Bridgewater, Jim was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, serving from 1996 to 2003. From 1991 to 1994, he was an Associate Economist at Caxton Associates, a macro hedge fund as well as an economics researcher at the American Enterprise Institute, where he published numerous analytical pieces on international economic and financial topics in leading newspapers around the world. Jim received his MPP from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in 1996 and a BA from Franklin and Marshall College in 1990. He currently serves as Chair of the Board at Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA, a grade 9-12 preparatory school he attended and graduated from in 1986. Jim, his wife Annie, and their three children reside in Westport, CT.

Even before the COVID-19 crisis, it was clear that traditional economic measures had increasingly diverged from social outcomes. Despite a decade of economic expansion and falling unemployment, social conditions deteriorated across a variety of measures. COVID-19 has brought these pressures to a head. Looking ahead, social conditions will have rising impacts on markets as policy evolves to more explicitly consider such issues in evaluating its goals. Fiscal policy is likely to take on a greater role in the decade to come, and is inherently distributional. The Fed, too, is increasingly taking into account social disparities.
