Phishing and Fraud Awareness Notice
Bridgewater Associates, LP (“Bridgewater”) is a premier asset management firm, focused on delivering unique insight and partnership for the most sophisticated global institutional investors. We have recently become aware of an increase in fraudulent schemes in which unauthorized third parties (often operating through fake websites, social-media profiles, unsolicited e-mail or social media messages, text messages, telephone calls, or other communication platforms) misrepresent themselves as employees, agents, or affiliates of Bridgewater. These bad actors may attempt to obtain confidential personal information, solicit investments (including cryptocurrency investments), offer investment advice, induce the transfer of funds under false pretenses, or may target job seekers purporting to offer jobs at Bridgewater. The fraudulent activity is sophisticated, constantly evolving and frequently mimics the look and feel of genuine Bridgewater communications, and may reference accurate-looking logos, executive names, marketing materials, and the official Bridgewater.com website. We issue this notice to alert current and prospective clients, counterparties, vendors, job applicants, and the general public to these unlawful practices. The actions of these unauthorized persons are in no way associated with Bridgewater.
Bridgewater communicates only through official channels, including with its clients, counterparties and job applicants. Bridgewater’s official website is: https://www.bridgewater.com, and our email address ends strictly in “@bwater.com”. No other websites or email domains are authorized by Bridgewater. The only social media accounts authorized by Bridgewater are LinkedIn and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). We only use these authorized social media accounts to issue informational postings. Please be aware that Bridgewater does not conduct business activities, financial transactions, solicit investments or provide investment advice through social-media direct messages, personal e-mail domains, encrypted messaging apps, or public chat platforms, such as Telegram, WeChat, or WhatsApp, or other public platforms. Bridgewater does not hire from social media or conduct interviews via text or messaging services, nor will Bridgewater request any form of payment in connection with the hiring process.
Some of the warning signs or red flags that may indicate a scam include: (a) phishing websites that have the look and feel of the official Bridgewater website, (b) variations in email domains that appear to have come from a Bridgewater email address, (c) fraudulent mobile device apps which purport to be an official Bridgewater app, and (d) time bound offers which pressure you to invest immediately.
If you have any questions about this notice or the legitimacy of any communication purportedly from Bridgewater, please email our Legal Department at LRG_FraudAwareness@bwater.com. If you believe you may have been the victim of internet crime or fraudulent activity, please report it to law enforcement in your jurisdiction.
