Phil Dobrin Named to Business Insider’s “2020 Rising Stars of Wall Street”

Phil is a Senior Portfolio Strategist and member of our research group with expertise in credit, interest rates, and equity markets. He has been responsible for leading research projects with the goal of impacting Bridgewater’s investment views with a primary research focus on understanding credit markets and financial institutions in the United States and Europe. Phil also works closely with Bridgewater’s clients to develop tailored investment strategies and share our best thinking on global markets and economic conditions. In addition to these responsibilities, he serves on our Investment Associate Council, a body responsible for the hiring, training and talent management of Bridgewater’s investment professionals. Prior to joining Bridgewater, Phil received his B.A. from Princeton University.

Phil got his start at Bridgewater in the midst of the financial crisis of 2008 working with our credit team and Co-CIO Greg Jensen. He spent 5 years with our research team developing expertise in bank and non-bank credit, their flows, and impacts on capital markets. In 2013, he began what was meant to be a short rotation with our strategist group, which serves as a bridge between Bridgewater research and its client partners. After 7 years, that tour has lasted longer than expected and Bridgewater, our clients, and Phil have all benefited from working together to solve the most pressing portfolio construction and investment challenges in today’s highly unusual investment environments.

Today, Phil was named to Business Insider’s “2020 Rising Stars of Wall Street” alongside a short list of others considered to be the next crop of leaders in finance.
