Larry serves as Co-Head of Fixed Income Research and is a Partner of the firm. He is a regular author of Bridgewater’s Daily Observations, and served as the Daily Observations editor for several years prior. Before joining Bridgewater in 2009, Larry spent most of his career at UBS in various trading and management roles, which included Managing Director of the UBS Distressed Asset Workout Group and Head of Sales and Trading for fixed income financing. He represented UBS at the New York Federal Reserve’s primary dealer finance meetings as well as at SIFMA and the European Repo council. He was also a board member of UBS LLC. Larry received his BS in Finance and BA in International Relations from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Policy makers can stop a bank run, but not a repricing of deposits. Higher funding costs will cause the worst banks to fail or become zombies, and a systemwide drag on profits is likely to result in less credit availability and a pullback in duration demand that has helped clear the bond market.
