How Nick Reber's (‘06-‘16) Healthcare Startup Diagnosed a Three Trillion Dollar Inefficiency

January 2021
Following ten years in Bridgewater’s investment engine, Nick Reber (’06-’16) has been blazing a path in the healthcare startup world. He joined a cohort of fellow Bridgewater alumni in the leadership suite at Oscar Health, and has now launched his own company, Garner Health, where Nick is combining entrepreneurship and data science to confront the systemic inequalities in healthcare. His aim is to improve quality and lower costs, taking on what he has measured as a “three trillion-dollar inefficiency.”

Nick recently returned to Bridgewater to discuss pairing data science with domain-specific expertise, how his time at Bridgewater prepared him for the rigor, successes, and failures of startup life, and to explain more about Garner’s product, which is being rolled out as part of the Bridgewater suite of benefits. Watch the full conversation with Head of Corporate Engagement Robyn Shepherd.
