Michael Kitson is Bridgewater’s Chief Compliance Officer and Counsel, responsible for overseeing the firm’s global compliance program and advising senior leadership on regulatory developments and key compliance initiatives across jurisdictions. He is also a Partner of the firm.

Michael regularly represents Bridgewater with leading industry groups and trade associations, including the Alternative Investment Management Association ("AIMA"), where he serves as a Council Member, the Managed Funds Association ("MFA"), and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association ("SIFMA"). He is a frequent panelist and speaker on topics such as investment adviser regulation, regulatory rulemaking, cross-border regulatory developments, the use of technology to enhance compliance programs, financial crimes compliance, and the structure and resourcing of in-house legal and compliance functions.

Outside of Bridgewater, Michael is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Wall Street Journal Chief Compliance Officer Council, and an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University School of Law, where he teaches courses on corporate compliance.

Prior to joining Bridgewater, Michael held senior legal and regulatory roles at global financial institutions, advising on matters including securities and derivatives trading, cross-border trade finance, anti-money laundering, sanctions, and consumer lending.

He earned his JD from Fordham University School of Law and his BA from Boston College. Michael is a member of the New York and New Jersey bars and is authorized as in-house counsel in Connecticut.
