We are pleased to share with you that Rebecca Patterson will join Bridgewater as a senior member of our investment research team. Rebecca most recently served as Chief Investment Officer of Bessemer Trust and has more than 20 years of investment management experience.
Bridgewater's core focus is on having the deepest possible understanding of how the economic machine and the markets operate, and to use that knowledge to structure portfolios designed to do well in both good and bad times. Rebecca brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which will help our investment team do that.
As you know, Bridgewater’s investment team is led by Co-Chief Investment Officers Ray Dalio, Bob Prince and Greg Jensen, whose combined firm tenure totals more than 100 years. Dalio, who founded Bridgewater in 1975, has been at the firm 45 years, Prince 33 years and Jensen 23 years. The CIOs are supported by a deep team of investment and research professionals comprised of more than 150 people. Rebecca will join the team’s senior leadership group and help to identify and explore areas of investment research across geographies and asset classes.
During her time at Bessemer, Rebecca was a member of the firm’s Management Committee in addition to serving as Chief Investment Officer. She previously spent 15 years at J.P. Morgan before joining Bessemer in 2012. She holds an M.B.A. from New York University, an M.A. in international relations from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and a B.S. in journalism from the University of Florida. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the New York Federal Reserve’s Investor Advisory Committee and the Economic Club of New York. She also chairs the University of Florida’s Investment Corporation’s Advisory Board.
